Sagging Rotor Blade Fix

By: Rotor_1

If you store your 21st Century Helicopter with the rotor blades installed, you'll notice they have a tendency to sag after a while. The problem seems to lie in the blade grips separating. I've read several "fixes" for the sagging rotor blade problem using shims. I've  come up with my own which I feel is a real permanent fix.

The photo above shows the fix. I drilled small holes through the blade grips about the same size as the hole in the blades themselves.  You'll find the guess work has been eliminated in trying to find the correct location to drill the hole. Notice the top of each blade grip there's three tiny "dimples" molded into the plastic. The hole is drilled on the outer most dimple.

With the blades installed, insert a #2-56 pan head screw through each blade grip.  #2 flat washers and #2-56 nuts complete the fix as seen in the photo. The #2-56 pan head screws, #2 flat washers and the #2-56 nuts can be ordered from Micro Fasteners. See photo for part numbers and contact info.

As a last note, the tabs on the ends of each blade are molded at a slight angle.  This angle makes the blades point slightly upwards up after they are bolted to the blade grips. To correct this problem I carefully heated each tab with a heat gun and bent the tab straight. Once installed and bolted in place they point straight out which has a more scale like appearance.
